One month at a bschool

Joined FMS for MBA(MS) on 3rd July. Today's 2nd August. So it implies I've completed one longg month at one of the premier institutes....phew!!!

Before coming here, whenever i told ppl i m joining FMS, delhi... only 2 things came out of them - be cautious-delhi isnt safe for girls; & FMS-a 2-yr-party. Life becomes so lotta easy when one is made to believe that FMS is so chilled out, esp to a lazy bum like me! but sigh! i really wanna meet all those ppl-who-give-false-hopes and give them a piece of my mind!!

So now, all those who have unfortunately reached my blog and ineptly reading thru this post... welcome to the world of a FMSite!! Day starts at 8am. From 9am-4pm professors beat their heads against ours to unsuccessfully(most of the times) imbibe in us some basics of accounting, statistics, economics, OB, marketing, n so on... few might think here-4 pm only! Wow! but i will only call them overzealous..atleast lemme rest my case first!

4pm is the entry time for seniors, of dfferent societies, like finesse(finance), persona(hr), markit(marketting), synopsys(IT n ops). We have presentations, debates, writeups to be submitted... 2 societies per day for intial 2 weeks... we get free by 8.30 pm. come back to hostel, have dinner, and then try n book one of the 3 working computers in the lab in hostel (since we dont have laptops yet!) cos there r presentations, assignments for tomm!

life becomes easy the 3rd week, cos the part-timers come at 6, and the societies can go on only till then. life becomes easy for another reason too- we getting used to it. now we can work for 20 hrs a day, and its fine... guess thats what the seniors intended us to learn, apart from the usual gain in knowledge base...

the sundays are some relief ofcourse with the sparks society chipping in with fun activities like treasure hunts, football match, volleyball match (which we lost to seniors) that take away the grind of the past week.

3rd weekend was the best of all, we had our freshers' party!!!! oh gosh that was so much fun!! dance dance... 5 hrs! letting our hair down (literally too!) the party also made few dormant members of the class to show their true colors! i seriously didnt know that some of the seniors, let alone some of my classmantes, could dance so well, n can njoi themselves too!! dont ask how much the body ached the next day!!! :D

so ppl, now u must be agreeing that FMS is not as chilled out as its made to be... ya we have fun, but thats not the only thing to it!

now we take things in our stride. presentation? will do it in 2 hrs. writeup? will complete it yaar. proffessor's assignment? copy it from me if u didnt do it! free early? lets go to priya's.even satya niketan's CCD will do! evening walks to hooting in a formal workshop (totally unintentional!) to going to a pub-cum-disc just 5 mins before its closing n asking 3 arbit girls to accompany to make the girls-boys ratio equal, to out for movie till 2.30 am, my class has done it all! how can i forget the truth-dare sessions! esp when the truth question get so monotonously stuck to asking "if u were asked to select one guy/gal from the class, who will it be!" yet they were so entertaining... esp linking up ppl owing to the answers they give...

so thats in short my one month at FMS... n ya, as anyone from the class would say, "I'm lovin' it!!"

I-am-back!

It’s been long long I haven’t blogged… CAT came and went on 20th Nov. All those speculations came to some halt, though final halt will be when final results are out… So no CAT stuffs till that day!!

Well most blogs I go through, most are in some or the other retrospect. So here I come with mine!

Sometimes you really wonder where your life is gonna take you.... The path ahead appears to be in blur, there's nothing you can hold on for support and to move ahead... You don’t know in which direction the path actually is, as all directions lure you to tread on them...

Hillary Swank said -

'When we stop looking, everything falls into place.'

Does that mean we should stop looking?

Are things going to fall into place?

Does that mean I should stop looking?

Well, I think she means looking as in searching so hard for that one thing, that we are blinded by all else except what we are looking for. Sometimes, its good just to step back and let things take their course, rather than pushing to break point. Maybe instead of 'looking' we should try seeing for a change :)

That’s what I tried doing last week, and for sure results are in front of me. Now I have a much desired, much awaited, peaceful personal life, with things again falling back in their right places… So for me this quote has stood true!

More on it later… CAT’s over, but not the plethora of entrance exams, they have just got started!! So back with my books, another coming up in a fortnight… Hope, no, I plan to
crack it this time!!

I-openers

A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.
~Lao Tzu

I have never understood how people decipher what life wants out of them, how they have concrete answers to where-do-you-see-yourself-ten-years-from-now clinchers.

I hate lying at times like these, I hate making up stuff that fits the bill (theirs of course) i know, i THINK so atleast, i ll be a b-school grad... earning some fat paycheck somewhere someplace...

Is lack of certainity defined as not knowing where one is headed (a mindset that most definitely irritates certain people, though they wish well, I know)

I dislike being caged in by monotony. I dislike routine watching over me...

I cannot be tied down, I am like the piece of paper that flew out of my hand yesterday evening from the terrace; the piece of paper that swayed with the gentle breeze, to and from, up and down, tracing a path very haphazard ...

I want my obituary to read "We do confirm that she no longer is with us, though mind you, there is absolutely no guarantee she went straight to heaven (as is the norm). She was always a drifter. Period."

Humor

This word has a lot of importance in my life - or for that matter for most of us. So much so that every time i have a hearty laugh i end up with tears in my eyes.

Talking of humor i read this series of elephant jokes somewhere and believe me i laughed long and hard, not cause they were humorous but cause they were downright silly. Take a moment off guys, remove ur socks and sit back... read this series at a strech and fast (you will surely enjoy it !!)

CAUTION : the content is silly, long and doesnt make any sense - dont try to reason :-)

(Those with high blood pressure, please avoid reading this. But never read only one. The effects may cause permanent brain damage.)

Q: How do you stop an elephant from charging?
A: Take away his credit card.

Q: Why is an elephant big, grey, and wrinkly?
A: Because, if it was small, white and smooth it would be an Aspirin.

Q: Why did the elephant fall out of the tree?
A: Because it fell asleep.

Q: Why did the second elephant fall out of the tree?
A: It was glued to the first one.

Q: Why did the third elephant fall out of the tree?
A: It was a copy cat.

Q: Why did the fourth elephant fall out of the tree?
A: It thought this was all a game.

Q: And why did the tree fall down?
A: It thought it was an elephant.

Q: What does an elephant and a blueberry have in common?
A: They're both blue, except for the elephant.

Q: What did Tarzan say when he saw 1,000 elephants coming over the hill?
A: Look, there's 1,000 elephants coming over the hill.

Q: How do you shoot a blue elephant?
A: With a blue elephant gun, of course.

Q: How do you shoot a red elephant?
A: No, not with a red elephant gun. You strangle him until he turns blue, then shoot him with a blue elephant gun.

Q: How do you shoot a green elephant?
A: Tell him a dirty joke so he turns red, strangle him until he turns blue, then shoot him with a blue elephant gun.

Q: How do you shoot a pink elephant?
A: First you bake a cake, and put 3 raisins on top, then you take it out in the jungle where the pink elephant will find it, and you wait. Eventually the elephant comes along, finds the cake, eats the raisins and throws the cake away. Then you go home and bake another cake and put 2 raisins on top, take it out in the jungle where the elephant will find it. The elephant comes along, finds the cake, eats the 2 raisins and throws the cake away. You go home and bake another cake and put only one raisin on it. Then you trek back into the jungle and put the cake where the pink elephant will find it. The elephant comes along eats the raisin, and throws that cake away. Now you go home and bake another cake, but (here's the sneaky part) you don't put any raisins on it. You take it out into the jungle where the elephant will find it and lie in wait. The pink elephant comes along and finds the cake, he gets SO mad that there aren't any raisins on it, he turns red, then you jump on him, strangle him until he turns blue......and you shoot him with a BLUE ELEPHANT GUN!!!

Q: How do you shoot a yellow elephant?
A: Aw, come one, have you ever seen a yellow elephant !?!

Q: Why do elephants have red eyes?
A: So they can hide themselves better in cherry trees.

Q: Ever seen an elephant in a cherry tree?
A: No? See how well the trick with the red eyes works?

Q: What time is it when an elephant sits on your fence?
A: Time to get a new fence.

Q: Where does an 8 ton elephant sit?
A: Any damn place where he pleases!

Q: Why is an elephant covered in wrinkles?
A: Ever try to iron one?

PHEW!! I personally liked this series - doesnt make sense but i laugh every time i read it !!

A NEW BEGINNING!

I dont know why I opened a blog.... Its about 2 am, and am not feeling sleepy.

I am still wondering as I type...what am I doing...Why I am doing this...What am I going to do with this....

Most great things in my life started with a similar beginning....I am not known to stay on with one thing for long...except for a few things that have begun like this...

But I know I am enjoying as I type... As I go thru this “expression”...That I realise I am connecting to myself...

In a busy hurry-bury life...most random thoughts and feelings are either hurried or buried...never recorded to be reflected upon.... or expressed to be impressed upon...

May be the novelty of me connecting to myself has allured me to open this blog...How long this will go on... Time will definitely tell…

Today was a mixed day... hope and hopelessness occupied me alternatingly...pushing me back and forth from akinesia to hyperactivity...from depression to certitude.... I hope I can overcome!!! I know i have to, i can clearly vision my aim now -> to bell the CAT. Last year was just touch and go at 98.33 %ile... Those who have the same vision, can understand how close that was... But but but! The hope of a brighter tomorrow... thats what sustains life... right!

Finishing the day with hope is a gift... inspite of the Ups and Downs of the day that just rested...

Ofcourse this is a new beginning..... ya ya all beginnings are new but this is "THE" NEW beginning...!!
